2015 ALAIN GRAILLOT
CROZES-HERMITAGE
$34.99 BTL./$419.88 CASE

‘If you come at the king, you best not miss – Omar from The Wire’.
There are others beautiful wines in the Crozes-Hermitage appellation but when it comes down to it, the king stay the king. I have been buying, selling, collecting and importantly drinking Alain Graillot's stunning value Crozes-Hermitage since the 1988 vintage and after seeing this in France last year, it is undoubtedly one of many greats in the annals of this influential producer's astounding history.

2015 is marvelous. We love to drink wine, but there is something about putting the glass to your nose and just smelling the beauty of a great wine. This is one of those special circumstances! The epitome of Crozes-Hermitage and French Syrah, what sets it apart is the extra level of depth and dimension that makes it stand above the other contenders. Smoky, peppery and chock full of cassis, currants and cracked pepper - lavishly flavored, but very youthful right now. Graillot's wines always provide much sensory overload and while you can have a go at a bottle now, and enjoy its development through 2030. Given what is out there in the world these days and the expense, this wine is STILL a steal for those who love to cellar wines and appreciate their development of complexity and breadth of flavor.

2015 DO FERREIRO REBISACA
$19.99 BTL./$239.88 CASE

Years ago on a trip to Spain, I visited a plethora of Albariño producers in Rias Baixas, and the education was unparalleled. An important fact learned, is that Do Ferreiro is the finest producer in the entire damn region - period! Don’t even start an argument, you’ll lose, especially when we bring out a bottle of Do Ferreiro's Cepas Vellas Albariño which is made from 200+ year old pre-phylloxera vines!

Galicia and its sub-region of Val Do Salnes is most famous for the Albariño grape. Truth be told, this is a large region, and there is a smattering of other varietals that are planted. Many of you are familiar with Do Ferreiro’s yummy Albariño, but profound as well is Gerardo Mendez's delightful and ravishing “Rebisaca.” Predominantly Albariño (85%), this wine is also blended with another native varietal, Treixadura (15%). The aromas and flavors on this wine are scary-good! Fragrant freshly cut flowers, sandstone and granitic tones that are all enhanced and buffered by white peach and lime. Clean, layered, lovely ripeness and mouth-watering briskness. Very pure flavors that remind one of the shore, although the Treixadura comes through with some engaging spice and roundness in the middle. Briny, saline, bone-dry qualities on the fine, super-long finish. This stuff if sooooooooooooooo undervalued, have it with a plethora of seafood, especially fresh Dungeness crab.

These are just to start, many other fun and exciting things will be uncorked! I’m taking requests within reason :-)

The Cellar Door will be closed Friday November 24 and will reappear on Monday November 27 at 9:30 AM
