Flavio Fanti is a badass Brunello producer who also makes stunning Rosso and other wines. This is a man truly dedicated to Tuscany and produces wines that are resounding expressions of this hallowed region and are never doused with Cabernet or Merlot.
If you haven’t heard or tasted by now, you will soon find out that 2016 is a seamless vintage in Tuscany. It is one where so many producers said that it was so easy to work through and all of the conditions needed arrived when they were supposed to be there. A step up from most Rosso di Montalcino this offering is in fact is declassified top-level fruit from La Palazzetta's fine sites and receives as much love as their Brunello. Majestic and packed with dark cherry, cedar spice and earth. Look for mineral notes and savory sage on a long and balanced finish. A real sleeper in its category, enjoy this vastly undervalued Tuscan treasure over the next 4 to 6 years with hearty pastas, roasted pork loin or a fat T-bone steak.

Carrel’s Rose rocks but definitely doesn't possess a heart of stone. In fact, beneath its seriousness, this flirtatious and flavorful sparkling pink wine is almost too easy to drink. Made from 80% Gamay, 10% Mondeuse and 10% Pinot Noir this sparkler is vivacious, adventurous and shimmering with gushing red berry fruits along with a touch of herb and biscuit. Following through to the mouth, this bubbly has teeth! Mouth-filling bubbles provide a vivid, elevated and electric texture that coats and refreshes all of your taste senses. Imminently slurpable and with no shortage of impact, it is joyful for drinking by itself with salads, light seafood dishes or even a lighter dessert.

Cheron is an excellent producer who has serious holdings in Gevrey-Chambertin, Vosne-Romanee, Chambolle Musigny and Clos de Vougeot who is still under the radar with excellent pricing.
Maybe the finest version to date of this wine, the Les Seuvrees vineyard is located in southern portion of Gevrey-Chambertin just below Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru. Streamlined with aromatic burst. Sensual spice and developing cinnamon. Lacy, but dense fruit, indicative of stellar 2016. Sleek, silky entry and with much more red tones than nose lets on. Youthful and all in back of mouth right now with killer extension; this wine has immense potential and will age nicely for 12-15 years.

Bodega Cesar Florido is a small but superb Sherry producer who makes the usual, entire lineup, however, this estate is dedicated to preserving the Moscatel grape of the village of Chipiona. One of the few producers to estate bottle, this sweet wine is aged one year in solera.
A big amber color with aromas of toffee, dried oranges, roses, smoked nuts, honey and caramel that really entice. Full of flavor, richness, finely grained acids to buffer the sweetness and a lengthy nutty finish. This is my favorite Thanksgiving Pumpkin Pie, Pecan Pie or Sweet Potato Bourbon Pie wine. It also is fabulous with chocolate.
