LOUIS ROEDERER BRUT PREMIER
[reg. $62.99]
SPECIAL - $45.99 btl./$275.94 - 6-pk

Known for Cristal, once again we have Roederer's Brut Premier on a terrific holiday special. This year we have deluxe gift boxes (see photo below) and they are a beautiful and impressive gift!

One of the great houses of Champagne, we cannot think of any other Champagne house that is as consistent with their non-vintage Champagne as Louis Roederer. Lovely aromas of apple, orange, toast, and stone on the nose. In the mouth, it has excellent apple fruit, with good concentration, well-framed acidity and a harmonious finish and silky bubbles from start to finish. An undoubtedly delicious Champagne that will put everyone in a good mood for the alco-holidaze or for any time you require a spot of the jumping grape!

2016 TERRIERE BROUILLY
'CUVEE JULES DE SOUZY'
$19.99 BTL./$239.88 CASE

Back when visiting Chateau de la Terriere in May the biggest revelation was just how wonderful this wine has become. Over the years we passed on the reserve cuvee because it often was held back by oaky tones. Commencing with the 2015 vintage, the Barbet family and winemaker Frederic Maignet decided to age the wine in larger, used barrels. This move has aided in the wine becoming something very special and I have been super-excited to have our cases finally arrive.

Coming from 50+ year old vines in the sweet spot of Northern Brouilly, an old plateau parcel. The soil is decomposed pink granite soil mixed with sand and stones, is low in clay and therefore filters very well, producing small yields and Beaujolais wines of depth and personality. Sensual hedonism at its best, this dramatic offering delivers a full presence of crème de framboise, smoked violet, anise, warm granite and undertones of strawberry and cinnamon-stick. Resoundingly mouth-filling and a total eruption of flavors cascades through the mouth. Finishes substantially with spice, but fills in beautifully with broad and balanced fruit that spreads out over the entire palate before it glides into the very persistent finish. An undoubted miracle in the mouth, this is a no-brainer with turkey and other holiday fare. It will also pair well with prime rib, pork roast, mushroom pasta or pungent cheeses like Saint-Marcellin or Brillat-Savarin. Drink now and over the next decade because this is definitely a Cru Beaujolais that ages very well.

2018 TERRE BIANCHE VERMENTINO
RIVIERA DI LIGURE PONANTE
$23.99 BTL./$287.88 CASE

More and more we are seeing excitement from areas of Italy that were not necessarily on the wine radar even as recent as a decade ago. With the hard work of some very savvy importers, wines from regions that weren't imported before have shown up in the US and this mouth-watering white from terraced vineyards along the western Italian Riviera is one such delicious example.

The Vermentino grape has been cultivated in Liguria since the Dark Ages. The small but very well thought of estate of Terre Bianche has been making small amounts of highly sought after wines since the 1980s. This white wine is from stony soils and a proximity to the sea, which allows the vines to breathe in the salty air. Illuminating and delicious, this Italian white is extremely compelling with expressive notes of lemon blossom, saline, freesia and minerality on the nose. A luscious entry gives way to a vinous texture is elevated and possessing perky crispness and balance; a total vehicle for fish jacked with anise and Italian herbs.

2016 DOMAINE DE BEAURENARD
CHATEAUNEUF-DU-PAPE
[reg. $51.99]
SPECIAL - $39.99 BTL./$479.88 CASE

The Coulon family has been producing wine in Châteauneuf-du-Pape since 1695 and over the years have produced magnificent results that so many of you have enjoyed. Whereas other Châteauneuf favorites like Galet-des-Papes or Vieux Telegraphe are lamb wines, Beaurenard works with pork and as winemaker Daniel Coulon sez 'perfect to drink with the little birds'.

Garrigue notes come out first on this rather flirtatious neo-classical 2016. A little lavender and coffee bean with some enticing grenadine notes work their way into the picture along with the classic Beaurenard reglise, black licorice to us Anglophones. Revealing, quite silky texture with lots of delineated fruit, there is intense structure here, but it is buried beneath the glorious core of fruit. Complex and riveting on the finish that tightens on the second taste. Warm, rocky, deep and laden with exotic spice on the brilliantly focused, extending finish. This wine is truly destined for greatness! Pretty sexy stuff now, but will be at its finest from end of 2021 on through to the end of the decade.
