2018 GIRARD SANCERRE 'LA GARENNE'
$19.99 BTL./$239.88 CASE

Here is something we aren’t seeing every day - a Sancerre for $20 that is actually of high quality!

From a 6-acre single vineyard facing eastward with very stony/silica soils with clay streaks, this steep site is seemingly from the Sancerre heavens and is the Sancerre we all reminisce about from our youths. Flinty, mineral, lemon-lime aspects shimmer from the glass. The texture is vivid, zippy, pristine and full of depth and vibrancy. Perfect to pair with sea bass, halibut or other fishes as well as a young, tangy goat cheese.

2016 BEAURENARD RASTEAU
'ARGILES BLEUES'
$31.99 BTL./$383.88 CASE

We have long featured Domaine de Beaurenard’s Rasteau wine; however, one thing that we have kept secret is their luxury bottling known as Argiles Bleues.

Argiles Bleues is made from the Coulon family’s terraced sites in Rasteau but these are specifically ones that are from old vines and have the famed blue clay soil. 80% Grenache, 20% Syrah and possessing a very exciting nose. Seemingly warm climate Barolo in its stature. Dusty with reglise, rosemary and balsamic soaked strawberries. Billowy attack up front. Superb intensity and vinosity. Tightens on finish but extends with excellent minerality. The equivalent of Boisrenard (Beaurenard’s top Chateauneuf) in Rasteau. Easily one that will drink well and age for 15+ years.

2016 MONTMIRIAL VACQUEYRAS
$23.99 BTL./$287.88 CASE

65% Grenache, 25% Syrah, 10% Mourvèdre from one of Vacqueyras’s top producers in the outstanding 2016 vintage.

Immediately noticeable is a multitude of complex perfumed aromas of exotic spice, lavender, ground pepper, violet and smoky, gamey notes that all shine on the nose. In the mouth, the flavors speak a dialect that is pure Provencal! No shortage of intensity here, what separates it from going into being redundant is its lively qualities, especially on the minerally, spice-laden finish that seemingly coats the entire palate. Very lovely now and will age well for 8-10+ years. Enjoy obviously with a grilled rib-eye or hangar steak but it will also pair well with marinated skewers that feature lamb, veggies and other meats, lentil/tomato dishes and slow roasted stews like a daube de Provence.

2017 MORGEN-LONG CHARDONNAY
WILLAMETTE VALLEY
$29.99 BTL./$359.88 CASE

If you were to ask who is the next up and comer for Oregon Chardonnay, it would be Seth Morgen Long. Pure and simple, whenever this guy makes an appointment, I had better be sure to block off an hour because he has an impressive lineup and all sorts of information, adjuncts and opinions. I also like that he is quite an old, crazy curmudgeon in a thirty-something’s body but still, I have flipped over his wines since first being introduced them a couple years ago.

A blend of prominent vineyard sites (Seven Springs, Durant, Loubejac, and Yamhill), electric minerality and vibrant aromatics of flint, yellow citrus, white florals, and green mango lift from the glass. The palate displays purity and great tension as kernels of flavor move with thrilling natural acidity into a refreshing finish with only subtle suggestions of spice from thoughful use of French oak. Drink through 2026.
