2016 CHATEAU HAUT-RIAN
COTES-DE-BORDEAUX ROUGE
$13.99 BTL./$167.88 CASE

Vintage 2016 is over the moon great for the Bordeaux region and Michel and Pauline Dietrich have put forth their finest version of their entry red Bordeaux.

Sensual blueberry scents shine along with a backdrop of mocha, jasmine, lilac and excellent purity and earth tones. Stylish, mouth filling, very smoothly textured that flows very nicely with depth and vibrancy to the over-delivering, complex finish. Not only does this wine have a big pleasure factor, it has more dimension than ever should be in an under 15-dollar wine. A versatile red wine to enjoy with so many dishes and we highly encourage you to add it to your everyday drinking repertoire. Enjoy over the next 5-6 years.

2018 OLIM BAUDA GAVI
DEL COMUNE DI GAVI
$17.99 BTL./$215.88 CASE

There is Gavi and then there is Gavi made specifically from the commune of Gavi, the traditional area in Piedmont for the Cortese grape. Grown at 1000 feet in the Gavi region of Piemonte, this devastatingly delicious white wine is a righteous, lower alcohol choice for many who appreciate and love brisk, pure and unoaked white wines.

Dazzling from the moment it is poured, the marl-based soil shines very well. Lime and apple notes intermingle nicely with mineral on the nose and carry over to an attacking texture that has plenty of burst and saline qualities. Lovely briskness buffers the surprisingly penetrating components, especially on the finish. This blazing white absolutely screams out for crab…although mussels, shrimp and cod will work well, too.

2015 PESQUIER COTE-DU-RHONE
$13.99 BTL./$167.88 CASE

Domaine Pesquier is a top Gigondas producer that is family-operated with the wines made in a very traditional style by Mathieu Boutiere. In fact, with Mathieu at the helm, the wines have soared to new heights. This Cotes-Du-Rhone is an awesome value with fruit solely from the Cotes-Du-Rhone village of Sablet.

Substance and depth that goes beyond what one might expect in a wine at this price, it does not hurt that 2015 is a stupendous vintage throughout France. Packed aromas that somewhat are reminiscent of a mini-Gigondas, there is plenty of smoked violet, cracked pepper, smoked meat, mineral and pronounced licorice. Chewy, substantial and very exciting suave flavors move from exotic spice to peppery tones. Expansion and depth are present, but not without structure along with a finish that offers up hints of balsamic-coated strawberries. A real steal of a Cotes-du-Rhone that will please over the next 2-3 years with grilled fare as well as winter braised fare.
