2019 CLOS DE LA ROILETTE FLEURIE
$21.99 BTL./$263.88 CASE

Alain Coudert's classic Fleurie is the true flagship of the Clos de la Roilette estate and is always one of the outrageous values in all of Beaujolais. There are often other Fleurie at higher prices but they rarely can touch the quality and dimension that this entry offering delivers. 2019 is a very classic, cool, stylish Beaujolais vintage that conjures up aspects of 2013 or 2016 and is dynamite.

From 30-40 year old vines and exuding top-drawer aromatics, this 100% Gamay is an ultra-vivid dream to both smell and drink. Brilliantly detailed aromas of peonies, strawberries, cinnamon and smoked earth aromas follow through to a texture that is bursting, invigorating and exuberant with plenty of depth, personality and length. No problem to drink numerous bottles and no problem to age for another six-8 years. If you need a score, this has 94 POINTS from The Wine Advocate.

2019 OLIM BAUDA GAVI
$17.99 BTL./$107.94 - SIX PACK

Olim Bauda is a Barbera specialist who happens to make a devastatingly delicious, mouth-watering Gavi that absolutely lifts the palate. 100% of the Cortese grape grown in chalky soils with an underlay of clay, the latest version is one of the finest and literally tells the story of the growing conditions of 2019.

Orating the early warmth of vintage 2019, it starts with ample, generous Anjou pear, lime and an impressive presence of mineral before giving way to the story of the cool down that occurred with a brisk, palate cleansing, livewire chalky finish. This wine is a seafood magnet and is one of my favorite with spaghetti alle vongole, bagna cauda or a Caesar Salad.

2016 PRAZO DE RORIZ DOURO TINTO
$13.99 BTL./$167.88 CASE

Made by top-notch Port house Quinta do Roriz, this toothsome numbers follows suit with many other Port houses directing grapes into making finer quality dry red wines.

30% each of Touriga Nacional and Touriga Franca, 15% Tinta Roriz and 25% of various other native varietals, it reveals hearty aromas of pronounced chocolate-covered strawberry scents that co-exist handsomely with Moroccan spice, violets and sneaky granitic graham-like aspects. Bountiful and very stylish flavors captivate the palate with an almost-Italian plum-like quality before advancing through to the arousing finish that brings it all home. Enjoy with lamb, grilled sausage, a hearty stew or bacon.

2019 ANDREA FELICI
VERDICCHIO DI CASTELLI DEI JESI
$16.99 BTL./$101.94 - SIX PACK

As many of you know, Leo Felici was named Italian White winemaker of the year by the famed Slow Food Gambero Rosso. This award is well deserved especially since many of you had the chance to experience his 2018. Want more good news regarding Leo’s wine? His 2019 may be superior!

No longer merely a rising Verdicchio star, this full-on, crazy rock star’s classic bottling can now best many people’s Riserva cuvees. Illuminating aromas of mineral, crustaceans, lemongrass, underlying yellow flowers, anise and limestone seemingly alternate in an unhurried fashion and draw you in for a sip. When the wine reaches the lips, perfumed flavors that are rich, yet tense and electric touch all of the senses in the mouth and extend to a superb, lingering finish. Perfect over the next few years with just about anything that swims as well as pesto or other green vegetables.

2019 CHATEAU FONTANES
CABERNET SAUVIGNON
$13.99 BTL./$167.88 CASE

Unlike many who mass-produce in this area, Languedoc maestro Cyriaque Rozier takes Cabernet Sauvignon very seriously. How the hell he is able to maintain a price point such as this and sustainably farming the land is beyond us!

‘Sudnapafrance’ indeed with very French and Mediterranean aspects with old vine cabernet cassis-like notes shining along with garrigue notes of mint, thyme and cracked pepper. Chewy, succulent, mouth filling and deceptively structured, this wine is a terrific everyday Cab that can consumed on its own or paired with grilled lamb or pork chops.

2017 CROWLEY PINOT NOIR
'ENTRE NOUS'
$27.99 BTL./$335.88 CASE

One of the great steals of Oregon Pinot Noir, Tyson Crowley’s Entre Nous cuvee is made up of some very impressive material. From fruit that didn’t make it into the single vineyard bottlings of La Colina in the Dundee Hills and Four Winds from the Coast Range, this Pinot delivers sheer beauty and ages very well as evidenced by a recent bottle of 2010.

Gorgeous and oh so classic Pinot Noir nose of lavender, violet, mulled spice, earth and pepper with undertones of mushroom providing instant complexity and transparency. Texturally, it is quite giving with a ripe and silky texture, and a sense of deep perfume that speaks clearly. The palate’s flavors are indicative of the combination of sites, with the Four Winds bringing backbone and firmness to the pleasurable aspects of the La Colina. Sensuous and prototype, top-drawer Oregon Pinot, these aspects carry on to the finish that maintains a finesseful pure character that is present throughout the wine. Lacy, elegant and accessible but it will age gracefully for 10-12 years easily.

2018 COLOSI ROSSO
TERRE SICILIANE
$8.99 BTL./$107.88 CASE

This Sicilian workhorse delivers an amazing value in a food-friendly package that is easy to drink on a consistent basis. Delicious, flavorful, and clean with a generous core of fruit, and an engaging, compelling personality makes it difficult to put down the glass.

Made from Nero d'Avola, Nerello Mascalese and Syrah it shows plenty of plum and berry fruit, touched by brightness and cool earth tones. For 9-bucks, it rocks as an every night red with grilled meats, pizza, pasta, or even burgers. In other words, you can drink this one like a patrician every night of the week.

2017 FEATHER (Long Shadows)
CABERNET SAUVIGNON
[reg. $74.99]
SPECIAL - $59.99 BTL./$359.94 - SIX PACK

In the early 2000s, Napa Valley vintner, Randy Dunn, joined up with the Long Shadows project and brought his artistry and expertise to Washington State to produce small quantities of Cabernet Sauvignon from the Columbia Valley's finest vineyards. His reputation for producing world class Cabernet spans more than four decades. After making wines at Caymus from 1975-1985, Randy established Dunn Vineyards on Howell Mountain where he continues to create distinctive wines of high acclaim.

100% Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2017 vintage produced wines with exceptional color and rich, complex flavors. Deep crimson colored with pure and expressive Cabernet Sauvignon character. Generous aromas and flavors of dark fruits, violets, coffee and toasted herbs combine with a textured mid-palate to deliver a big, yet focused, wine with polished tannins and persistent finish. Will drink well and develop nicely for 15-20 years.
