Drop by to get Loose for Labor Day Weekend as we uncork new Brunello and Rosso di Montalcino from Caprili along with a zippy French wine.
The category of Rosso di Montalcino can provide some of the finest values in all of Tuscany, especially when they are of this caliber. Caprili’s Rosso di Montalcino is a wine that we not only sell and have worked with for many years; this is a wine Karen and I consume at home for many occasions.
From the estate’s Testuccaia vineyard within the Montalcino zone, this wine provides a pleasurable drinking sensation on a more open, fruit-driven wavelength. Intense plum and violet with soft tangy earth and hints of exotic spice. Generous and giving, but with beautiful polish, class and unexpected length, but this is what 2015 is all about with its pedigree. This IS what a real deal Montalcino looks like and is one that destroys most Chianti at the same price.

A five-star vintage and somewhat reminiscent of the outstanding 2004s, Caprili’s 2012 is brilliant, deep, textbook Brunello with aromas of pure ripe cherry, violet, mineral, subtle exotic spice and fine aromatic roasted herbs. Exuberant, poised as well as being very sensual on the palate with a rich core of fruit that balances the fine-grained tannins beautifully.
The finish just keeps going and whips back with a serious note. If you are a lover of Tuscan wine, by now you have realized this vintage for many producers in Chianti was a tad more supple and inconsistent, the region of Montalcino enjoyed great success in 2012. Surprisingly approachable now with a hearty meal but will continue to gain in complexity over the next 12-15+ years.

From Alsace and formerly known as Gentil, Metiss is a blend of Pinot Blanc, Chasselas, Muscat and Riesling fermented fully dry. With summer taking one last swing this coming weekend, there aren’t many wines we would rather drink!
Smoke, mineral, melon, tangerine and spice aromas lead into a brisk, texture that has a silky influence beneath the exuberance. Typical of Bott-Geyl's wines, this brisk number shows its presence in the mouth, but Jean-Christophe Bott’s philosophy of balance kicks in with lovely balance and refinement. Quaff this wine by itself, with grilled salmon, or sushi, it’s simply delicious!
