2019 REVERDITO NEBBIOLO
$14.99 BTL./$179.88 CASE

Located in the Barolo village of La Morra, Michele Reverdito is one of this area’s up and comers. Owning land not only in La Morra, he also has vineyards in Monforte, Serralunga and Verduno with 23 of the 27 acres dedicated to Nebbiolo for his seven Barolo wines as well as this over-achieving entry version.

Like all of the wines at this estate, the Nebbiolo is nuanced and refined. Persistently aromatic scents of strawberry licorice, rose, tar and spice follow through to a finely detailed texture that is essence of what Nebbiolo is and should be. Classy and thought provoking, elegant and full all at once, this classy red can be consumed over the next 4-5 years. Have it with braised lamb or beef in a red wine (preferably Nebbiolo) sauce.

2020 CARREL SAVOIE ROSE
$11.99 BTL./$143.88 CASE

Even though this estate is located in France’s Savoie region, it is quite known, especially among wine nerds like ourselves. In fact, if this Domaine were in Provence or Loire Valley, you could bet your arse that this Rose would sell for $20 and not $12!

80% Gamay, 20% Mondeuse comprises the blend. Think of a gushing pink mountain waterfall. Bursting with strawberry, plum pit from the Mondeuse, mountain spices and fine mineral, this jaunting rose invades and occupies the palate. Tingly, tasty and chock full of character, this wine demands love. Enjoy with hors d’oeuvres, tapas or alone with good friends.

2019 BERNABELEVA GARNACHA
'CAMINO DEL NAVAHERROS'
$14.99 BTL./$179.88 CASE

Lately, the area west of Madrid in the foothills of the Sierra de Grados Mountains is becoming renowned for its excellent Grenache wines. The various elevations and soil-types are what drives the wines and they are vastly different from those of Catalonia, Languedoc or the Rhone Valley.

Bernabeleva is one of the leaders of the area and this Garnacha grown in sandy soil and aged in stainless steel tanks, is meant to be a layered and virtuous version that holds its freshness beautifully. An intense character of rose petal, red plum, anise and well-accented white pepper tones that follow over into a texture that is crunchy, vibrant and mouth filling. Gains plenty of vibrancy on the finish and possesses an excellent white pepper note. Drink this tempting mouthful of red wine with an array of grilled cuisines; I am partial to eggplant parmesan with this red. A fabulous Spanish red not to be missed!

2018 LOS MORROS
CABERNET SAUVIGNON
$9.99 BTL./$119.88 CASE

Los Morros is one of two Chilean outfits owned by Miguel Besoain. A graduate from the Universite de Bourgogne in Dijon, Miguel followed his schooling with 10 years of toiling in wineries in France and Germany before returning home to the Maipo Valley to do his own thing.

The Los Morros winery is designated for value wines and their Cabernet Sauvignon is banging for 10-bucks. Chewy, bold black cherry, allspice, and mocha carry over to the warm, full, and inviting texture that is sumptuous and mouth coating from the attacking start to the substantial, spicy finish. Drink this wine over the next 3-5 years with a big juicy steak.

2019 GIRLAN PINOT BIANCO
$13.99 BTL./$83.94 - SIX PACK

We constantly hear from our different sales folk, 'Tell me a ('place the name of wine here') that is better than this one is for this price'. Truthfully, if we hear this one more time, we might have to resume the beatings. If there is one wine that ever fits this statement, it is Girlan's Pinot Blanco. A perennial best buy, this is the fourth consecutive vintage featured and once again, it exceeds expectations.

If you ever wanted to know what we are talking about when we say, pure, clean and crisp, then this would be a good example. Attractive aromas of apple, peach, and white flowers along with prominent flinty, stony aspects. Clean and elegant in the mouth, this has subtle richness, with bursting fruit and a pristine, mouthwatering finish. One can have this wine on its own as an aperitif but it really shines with grilled prawns or fresh crab.

2018 CHATEAU DES ADOUZES
FAUGERES 'LE TIGRE'
$16.99 BTL./$203.88 CASE

The village and red wine growing region of Faugeres is very remote. Tucked away in the hills above the city of Beziers in the Coteaux-Du-Languedoc, when entering this wine region, one can hear the theme music to Deliverance in the background. Okay, not really but this place is in the middle of nowhere and when done well, the wines can be some of the best in Languedoc.

35% Carignan,35% Grenache, 30% Syrah, Chateau des Adouzes Faugeres is full of character and quite spicy with plenty of extroverted scents of blackberry, ginger, smoke, and white pepper. In the mouth, it goes quite deep and complex while carrying a feral streak that makes it go beautifully with grilled leg of lamb, ribs with a slightly spicy barbecue sauce or even a penne Bolognese.

2019 JC SOMERS PINOT NOIR
DUNDEE HILLS 'NOUVELLE LUNE'
$34.99 BTL./$419.88 CASE

Having stepped away from J. Christopher to refocus on making wine on a smaller scale, Willamette Valley lead guitarist and profound winemaker Jay Somers set out on an exciting new venture. Last year we started with their Sauvignon but now we are excited to offer Jay and Ronda's first Pinot Noir under the JC Somers label.

Nouvelle Lune, or new moon, is solely from the Dundee Hills and specifically from Abbey Ridge, La Colina and Bella Vida Vineyards. Absolute essence of what Dundee Hills brings. Aromatic, finely detailed, lovely combo of violet, plum, jasmine and lavender. Silk-laden, very mouth-crawling, sultry pinot palate. Tightens as expected on the finish, which reveals lots of length and immense potential. Drink over the next 10-12 years.

2012 VIGNALTA 'GEMOLA'
COLLI EUGANEI ROSSO
$36.99 BTL./$221.94 - SIX PACK

Founded in 1980, Lucio Gomero created Vignalta based on his passion for the red wines from the Right Bank of Bordeaux (Pomerol & St-Emilion). Il Veneto's Colli Euganei region is in close proximity to Venice. The hills and soil structures allow for exquisite wines made from Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon & Cabernet Franc to excel all while maintaining their Italian roots. Gemola is one of Italy's most profound red wines that we are sure that you have never heard of.

Over the years, Lucio has won an abundance of accolades with this cuvee and deservedly so, this wine is special stuff and a steal especially given the prices of similar blends from the Tuscan coast. Behaving like a top-level St-Emilion yet with the recurring theme of being VERY Italian it is an intense ruby red best described as elegantly persuasive. Fine spice, raspberry and Italian plum shine against a backdrop of licorice, peat and cocoa powder. The palate is exquisitely balanced, concentrated, spreading out, having hearty, yet sophisticated dry connotations of berries and briar giving way to smoky, earthy balsamic aspects that linger beautifully on the long and structured finish. At age 6, this is starting to sing and will easily drink and develop well for another decade.
