2014 CAMERON GIOVANNI "VIGNA PINOT BIANCO"
$12.99 BTL./$155.88 CASE

Giovanni Paolo a.k.a. John Paul owner and winemaker extraordinaire of Cameron Winery has never, and will never need to use absurd marketing ploys to sell his extremely well made juice. It's all about quality farming and fruit to best express the terroir where the grapes are grown.

The 2014 Giovanni is mostly Pinot Bianco with small dollops of Chardonnay and Pinot Gris, all from Abbey Ridge and highlights the aromatic side of this sometimes-misunderstood varietal. Pure, forward yet very brisk flavors of creamed pear, cardamom spice, tangerine and bright stony perfume, this white possesses excellent depth along with impeccable lift and freshness that cleanses the palate and leaves you wanting more, more, more! Great salmon is coming soon, and this wine will definitely be a choice pairing. You can also enjoy it with roasted chicken and mushrooms, crab and other shellfish dishes.

2013 CAMERON PINOT NOIR WILLAMETTE VALLEY
$17.99 BTL./$215.88 CASE

Let the March Madness begin! Cameron's 2013 Willamette Valley Pinot Noir and now released and is quite a head-turner, but there is one catch, the quantities are achingly small. We have only a limited amount of cases to sell and last year they sold in less than a day. Translation: if you want under 20-buck Cameron Pinot, e-mail us immediately!

From non-irrigated grapes, the tell-tale, sensual Cameron perfume instantly soars from the glass and offers up scents of cinnamon, red earth and an engaging presence of violet and dark, ripe cherry. More and more, the spices come out as this wine unfolds in the glass. In the mouth is where this value Pinot Noir excels. Chock full of lacey fruit, it seemingly crawls through the mouth to touch upon every sense. On the finish, it shows off its backbone and really stands up and delivers brisk tones and minerality. Yet another gorgeous offering from Cameron, it can be consumed now and over the next 2-4 years. An insane Pinot Noir value!

2012 VIETTI NEBBIOLO "PERBACCO"
$23.99 BTL./$287.88 CASE

By now, many of you have heard the real backstory of this wine but it is always worth reiterating it. Barolo in all but name, the Perbacco is a selection of juice and vineyards that show more readiness and drinkability than the Barolo Castiglione with aging 24 months in cask, the required time for Barolo. Consistently this wine is a supreme value and 2012 follows Luca’s trend of making this wine so delectable and imminently likable.

The average age of the vines are now 35 years old and this wine shows excellent vinous character. Lyrical and focused Nebbiolo with drawn-out red fruits, chocolate licorice and undercurrents of perfumed earth tones, there is exquisite movement, depth and persistence, especially on the detailed and luxurious finish. 2012 is a very classically styled vintage and this is tasty now through 2020.

2012 MOUNT VEEDER NAPA VALLEY CABERNET SAUVIGNON
[reg. $49.99] SPECIAL PRICE - $34.99 BTL./$419.88 CASE

One of the best-kept secrets in the Napa Valley is the subtle return of Mount Veeder’s Cabernet. Save for the difficult 2011 vintage, this estate has been forming excellent wines since the 2008 vintage with a subtle stylistic change which is one that doesn’t take the enamel off of your teeth as these wines once did back in the day!

A hell of a special deal on one of Napa Valley's famous names, this mountain fruit Cabernet Sauvignon is superb for 35 bucks! A full-bodied sensuous beast that reveals classic Napa aromas of bold, dark plum-pepper, allspice, cinnamon, violet and hot rock. High elevation notes of red tones co-exist nicely with saturated, chewy blue tones; a real mouthful of Cabernet doing its stuff as it moves throughout the palate. Through all of this, it maintains freshness which calls you back for another glass and another and another, etc., etc. The finish is penetrating and packed revealing mocha-laced raspberry red tones and sticks around for a long time. Essence of the great 2012 vintage in Napa. Wow! Drink through 2024+.

2013 CIRO PICARIELLO FIANO DI AVELLINO
$21.99 BTL./$263.88 CASE

Whether France, Italy, Spain or the New World, Ciro Picariello’s 2013 Fiano D'Avellino is one of the most intriguing and pleasing white wines that I have tasted thus far in 2015. Because of the cool microclimate, 1800-foot elevation and due to the poor volcanic soils, this is a prime growing area for white wine. The Fiano di Avellino takes its name from the variety that the Latins called Vitis Apiana because the vine's grapes were so sweet that they proved irresistible to bees.

A young estate founded in 1997, the striking nose of this Fiano is full and broad with aromas of honeysuckle, toasted hazelnut, apricot and tropical fruits, that are spiked with tons of aromatics and spice, reminiscent of a great dry Alsace Grand Cru or perhaps something on a top-scale from Austria. Gorgeous mouth-coating, fleshy and lush flavors fill the mouth only to be upstaged by the mineral zinginess that instantly cleanses only leaving the fresh flavors behind for what seems like 10 minutes. This stunner is perfect as an aperitivo or with elegant seafood dishes or white meats.

2013 COLONIAS LAS LIEBRES BONARDA ROSE BRUT NATURE
[reg. $21.99] SPECIAL PRICE - $13.99 BTL./83.94 - SIX PACK

Here’s one to put in the ‘go figure’ category. Probably the last thing that I would ever expect would be to offer a dry, sparkling rose done entirely from the Bonarda grape that is extremely well crafted and a delightful and bursting drink. Even better yet is its special price because the distributor ordered heavy for the holidays and the wine showed up late. Colonias Las Liebres is the Bonarda product and estate from famed Argentine producer Altos las Hormigas. Italian-owned, the team has always had belief that Bonarda could thrive in Mendoza and since 2003, these guys have continually proven it with good wines.

This is the first experience that I have had with the sparkling pink version and it is extremely tasty stuff. Vivacious, adventurous and shimmering with gushing red berry fruits along with a touch of herb and biscuit qualities on the nose, all which Follow through to the palate that has teeth! Erupting bubbles provide a vivid, elevated and electric texture that coats and refreshes all of your taste senses. Imminently slurpable and with no shortage of impact, it is joyful for drinking by itself with hors d’oeurves and friends.

2012 MAS D'INTRAS COTEAUX L'ARDECHE "HELVIENS"
$11.99 BTL./$143.88 CASE

A forward and delicious red wine from the temperate Coteaux De L'Ardeche, located between the Northern and Southern Rhone, about 20 km east of the river, this popular offering is like a big cuddly Labrador retriever on a mission to aim to please and make you smile.

Mas D'Intras practices organic, natural farming and this favorite red blend is 50% Grenache and 50% Syrah. Inviting, engaging and very fresh from not utilizing any oak in the elevage of the wine, cherries, berries and white pepper from Grenache combine nicely with the fullness, lushness and "purple" aspects of the Syrah. Enjoy on a regular basis with charcuterie, ratatouille or a slab of ribs with tangy barbecue sauce.

2012 CHATEAU PARET CASTILLON COTES-DE-BORDEAUX
$11.99 BTL./$143.88 CASE

Castillon Cotes-de-Bordeaux is a vast winemaking region that neighbors St-Emilion. Given the size of the area, not all wines made here are created equally; however, the Fauchey family has consistently delivered impressive wines for not a whole lot of money. 2012 is a sneaky-good vintage that if its conditions and results had occurred in the 80s or 90s, we would be talking about its grandiose character. Instead, the bar has been raised and following in the shadows of 2009 and 2010, it is regarded as a ‘deceptively good’ vintage.

Poised and personable, and with a tell-tale right bank Bordeaux nose of ironstone, raspberry, espresso and sandalwood, this delicious red delivers so much for so little. Elegant, sophisticated beyond its price tag and chock full of grace, terroir and a dry, austere, spiced-earth finish. A wonderful match with duck breast or a roasted leg of Easter lamb. Drink over the next 2-3 years.
