2018 HAUT-RIAN BORDEAUX BLANC
$9.99 BTL./$119.88 CASE

The new 2018 is now available (and we will be tasting it as well as the others below on Friday) and once again is very delicious. The vintage itself is fantastic, leading to a wine with impeccable palate coverage. An abundance of lemon and mango with underlying minerality takes off from the glass. Chock full of beautiful fruit and with the mineral notes from the aromas arriving late and extending into a very extensive finish. One of the best versions ever!

2018 HAUT-RIAN BORDEAUX ROSE
$10.99 BTL./$131.88 CASE

The 2018 is directly pressed and not on the skins very long, hence a lovely, pale pink color. Strawberries and rocks along with a streak of engaging spice. The texture is its usual thrill ride self with lots of pop, brisk fruit and an overall lively profile. What is most impressive about the new 2018 is just how much the wine lingers, something not usually found in eleven-dollar dry Rose wines. Better stated is that this wine will kick any 11-buck version from Provence’s ass, and twice over at that. An impeccable wine for a charcuterie plate, light seafood and an over achieving underdog with fresh crab.

2015 HAUT-RIAN
COTES-DE-BORDEAUX ROUGE
$11.99 BTL./$143.88 CASE

This red wine is Haut-Rian's flagship red wine and it is really starting to sing. It also doesn’t hurt that it is from a remarkable vintage.

The blueberry fruit is really shining yet there is an underbelly of wonderful, complex supporting tones such as dark chocolate, tea leaf, nutmeg and smokiness. In the mouth this toothsome Bordeaux has become silky-smooth indeed. Fills the entire palate with excellent depth and the 10% Cabernet Franc showing up on the finish that is laden with raspberry, earth and spice. One of our most versatile red wines that we offer, many folks will ask what to pair it with and my answer is simple – have it with dinner.

2015 HAUT-RIAN COTES-DE-BORDEAUX
ROUGE 'SAINT-SEURIN'
$14.99 BTL./$179.88 CASE

Formerly known as Cuvee Prestige, the single parcel wine ‘Saint-Seurin’ is the Dietrich family’s wondrous luxury wine that not only shows very well early, also ages way too well than any 15-buck red wine ever should. From the estate’s oldest vines, the presence of 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 12 months aging in oak brings about a fine presence of depth, finesse and extensive potential.

Last year we offered this wine and 10 cases sold in about ten days. At this moment, the wine is quite impressive. Commencing with plum and violet, aromatic Moroccan spice, mocha and cassis notes from the Cabernet quickly appear. Classic Bordeaux spirit, nice vinous texture, with almost marine-like aspects around the edges. Extends with a combination of red earth, good fruit and plenty of spice on the very long finish. Very accessible now, especially with something like a rib eye or roasted rack of lamb but will continue to develop for another seven-8 years.

2018 HAUT-RIAN BORDEAUX BLANC
'LES ACACIAS'
$14.99 BTL./$179.88 CASE

Formerly known as Cuvee Excellence, this 100% Semillon offering from a parcel known as Les Acacias has been a joy to work with since we initially started with it for the 2012 vintage. What truly makes this version so special is that it comes from the extraordinary 2016 vintage.

While the 2016 reds are tightly wound, (we will taste those in 2020) the whites have been beautiful since day one. White flowers, fig, grilled peaches, vanilla and mineral come on and on and on as the wine unfolds in the glass. Layered, nice creamy aspects but with plenty of crisp, blitzing tones as well as generous spice aspects on the finish from oak aging. Lots of poise and depth from old vines, this is a very noteworthy value and one that will age nicely 5 years from vintage date. Have this with fish in a sauce, scallops, perhaps something with a bit of Latin pizzazz.
