2017 QUINTA DA ROMANEIRA
DOURO TINTO 'SINO DA ROMANEIRA'
$19.99 BTL./$239.88 CASE

This wine does not mess around; it is serious enough for food but can also be consumed very easily. Think of a mullet haircut, business in the front, party in the back. Currently, we are now realizing the emerging quality of Portugal’s wines. This particular offering is from the Douro region, which is home for Port wines, however over the last 20 years; many top-notch DRY red wines have emerged from this region.

50% Touriga Francesa, 30% Tinta Roriz, 10% Touriga Nacional & 10% Tinto Cão aged in second and third use French barrels, this savory red is a real mouthful of delicious excitement!! Loads of individuality and class behind a robe of blackberry fruit with mountain spices, wild flowers, mint and mocha ride shotgun provide complexity. Full-flavored yet very agile and compelling, this "alive" wine shows impressive texture and breadth of flavor all while maintaining poise. Lots of movement and licorice shine on the finish and sum up the entire experience by letting the taster know that all of the components really work well and do their part from start to finish. Drink this delicious 20-buck steal with sausages, braised pork and even dark chocolate.

2019 ET FILLE PINOT NOIR
WILLAMETTE VALLEY
$29.99 BTL./$359.88 CASE

93 Points – The Wine Spectator…The Cellar Door has been preaching about the merits and superb virtues of Jessica Mozieco’s wines and how they should be more known and adored. We love seeing that the Wine Spectator bestowed a nice write-up for her Willamette Valley Pinot Noir but always remember, journalists do not make wine. Importers do not make wine, and thank God, that marketers do not make wine. People make wine, and when done by small producers such as this, they truly excel to amazing heights and this 2019 is over-the-moon fabulous. ‘Graceful and pretty, with elegantly multilayered raspberry and strawberry flavors accented by rose petal and toasty spice, which sail on the supple finish toward plush tannins. Drink now through 2029. – 93 Points, The Wine Spectator’

2021 CAMERON CHARDONNAY
DUNDEE HILLS
$23.99 BTL./$287.88 CASE

The old Oakland Raiders once had their 'Raider Rules' posted in the locker room. Number One: Cheating is encouraged. Rule Number 2: See Rule Number One. Sometimes when we taste this wine from one of Oregon’s Chardonnay masters, we feel as though it is almost unfair that this wine at its price has so much top fruit from Abbey Ridge and Clos Electrique in its blend.

2021 is its usual outstanding value but the quantities are very small and as usual, the gateway Cameron Chardonnay is not an oak and butter-festival. Chock full of lemon, mineral and pear aromas that intermingle nicely with subtle flint and undertones of spiced cereal, it has terrific flavor without being overblown or heavy-handed. Owning a silky smooth mouthfeel and great balance, this wine is a consistent winner that will pair beautifully with most Northwest seafood like salmon and halibut, or makes the perfect match with roasted poultry.

2020 PLANETA CERASUOLO DI VITTORIA
[reg. $31.99]
SPECIAL - $19.99 BTL./$119.94 - SIX PK

t took Guns~N~Roses 14 years to complete and release "Chinese Democracy." They are now coming close to the same amount of to reveal some sort of follow-up release. Unlike the hall of fame rock band, it took me about 14 seconds to complete my assessment of how good this Sicilian red wine is.

Made with 60% Nero D'Avola and 40% Frappato, this hearty red is gorgeously fragrant. If roses are spicy, then this is it! Alluring tones of potpourri, roasted earth, tangy Italian spices and smoky mineral. In the mouth, it is lavish, smooth and very savory with plenty of depth and personality. Deceptive spine and backbone are present which will allow it to age, however once you taste it is difficult to keep your hands off it. Loaded with vibrant fruit and persistence on the firecracker of a finish. Perfect for drinking over the next two or three years with fish and tomato dishes.

2020 GRYPHEES JULIENAS
$19.99 BTL./$239.88 CASE

No thanks to Nouveau, Beaujolais is probably the most misunderstood wine region in France. While there should be respect for the ceremony and celebration of the new arrival, it should never be the face of this region. Fortunately there are numerous, outstanding producers like Pierre and Guillame Durdilly who make a very fine range of Beaujolais wines that are all respective of their terroirs.

One of the 10 Cru of Beaujolais, Julienas takes its name from Julius Caesar and the growers believe that the area was the site of the first vineyards planted in Beaujolais after the Romans conquered Gaul. This is always one of the more earth-driven, sturdy Crus; the 2020 vintage provides a lush underbelly to the wine’s overall impression. Luminous plum and rose aromas combine with wild cherry, cinnamon and stoniness to enliven the olfactory senses. In the mouth, it is forward, terroir laden while striking a nice balance between fruit and mineral on the vivid and extensive finish. This is shimmering Beaujolais and quite versatile with food. Enjoy over the next 3-5 years with holiday turkey, mushroom pasta or just a super-fine aged Gruyere cheese.

2018 MUGA RIOJA RESERVA
SELECCION ESPECIAL
$44.99 BTL./$539.88 CASE

Since the introduction of this offering in the 1994 vintage, this Rioja has consistently knocked us over with its impeccable quality. A neo-classical wine of specially selected parcels from Muga's top vineyards, this wine is a synthesis of past, present and future in a single wine. On one hand, it has the potential for evolution, complexity and exquisite elegance of the classic wines, and on the other, the up-front character of fruit and fresh spices that is more typical of modern-style Rioja wines. For vintage 2018, all of Muga’s super-expensive Rioja grapes that normally go into Prado Enea, Torre Muga and Aro all went into this cuvee making it a wine of Grand Cru stature at such a fair price.

The nose is characterized by ripe fruit, with a predominance of wild red berries, perfectly blended with spices and balsamic ageing aromas. The strength of this wine lies in the wide range of registers within these aromatic sub-groups. We can detect cinnamon, licorice, vanilla, cloves, coconut, black pepper, menthol and all with a fresh character, which makes them unique. In the mouth, the attack is warm, friendly, supple and velvety. It leaves a feeling of gratitude and an aftertaste seemingly eternal in length and intensity and characterized by rounded tannins and a complex mineral component. With the copious and impressive amount of concentration, this wine can actually be accessed now, however, given the submerged structure and pedigree of upper echelon fruit, it will develop and gain incredible dimension over the next 15-20 years as well.

2020 BALLAND SAUVIGNON BLANC
'EN ATTENDANT DES BEAUX JOURS'
$14.99 BTL./$179.88 CASE

From a young vigneron who has roots in Sancerre and Giennois reaching back to 1650, this is the value Sauvignon Blanc of our dreams. As exciting as this wine is, we almost cannot wait to see what will come with his more upscale offerings, but in the meantime, we will gladly toss back numerous bottles of this blitzing white wine.

Exciting chalky/seashore aromas conjoin with underlying perfumy lemon and grapefruit. Livewire, elevated, ethereal and very mouth-watering, this radiantly focused white is perfect fodder with oysters, mussels or shrimp, but is the bomb with chevre.

2020 CAPRILI 'ILEX' ROSSO
$10.99 BTL./$65.94 - SIX PACK

Famous for their Brunello and Rosso di Montalcino wines, Caprili also makes a 100% Sangiovese that drinks well on any weeknight evening.

This Sangiovese has serious "chug" factor with vibrant aromas of juicy strawberry, game, sage, white flowers and blueberry move nicely into the round and friendly mouthfeel. This hearty red is the perfect accompaniment to pizza, meatloaf, and simple red-sauced pasta dishes or as Karen would say, have a few glasses while you are cooking the meal with a hunk of good cheese.
