2023 BOUDIN 'CHANTEMERLE'
CHABLIS 1ER FOURCHAUMES
$34.99 BTL./$419.88 CASE

Gerard Boudin produces one of our favorite village level Chablis but also produces an outstanding Premier Cru Fourchaume in miniscule amounts.

Like all Chez Boudin Chablis, this is crafted without the use of oak barrels. A very generous but classic Fourchaume nose of green fruit, oyster shell and sea breeze highlights full-bodied yet impeccably precise and electrifying flavors that span the entire palate and linger on with minerality that is undeniably impressive. Drink through 2035.

2020 ALTOS LAS HORMIGAS
MALBEC RESERVE
$27.99 BTL./$167.94 - SIX PACK

This Reserve Malbec is one of the wines that established Argentina as a world player. Almost thirty years on, it remains one of Mendoza’s zenith Malbecs. No small barrels, no American oak, it is aged 18-months in 3500-liter vats so not to impair the grape or top Uco Valley sites which between the high elevation and chalky soils brings about fervency.

Stimulating with a slow-building, expansive texture, this Malbec crescendos towards a deep mid-palate and wide-ranging, long finish. Black cherry, licorice, espresso from earth and ironstone are prominent throughout. No problem for this wine to age nicely for another eight-10 years, although it is wonderful now.

2024 SIGNANO VERNACCIA
DI SAN GIMIGNANO
$19.99 BTL./$239.88 CASE

Most tourists visiting Tuscany make their way to San Gimignano. Known for its towers, it is also known for the famed white wine made from the Vernaccia grape. A step above so many mundane versions, Signano is the result of meticulous farming and winemaking. Classy tones of orange, lemon, mineral, anise, and a hint of almond carry over into a clean and crisp, yet deceivingly intense texture that that is fully dry on the palate. Fine balance and grace, one can toss back numerous glasses with antipasti, lighter seafood preparations or a simple pasta tossed with vegetables and olive oil.

2023 OEDIPODA JULIENAS
'CHANORIERS'
$29.99 BTL./$359.88 CASE

The arrival of rain means the arrival of comfort food dishes that pair beautifully with Cru Beaujolais. Julienas takes its name from Julius Caesar, and its growers believe that the area was the site of the first vineyards planted in Beaujolais after the Romans conquered Gaul.

Intersecting heartiness and finesse, The Oedipoda typifies the Cru’s personality. Blackberry and peppercorn aromas combine with red berry, cinnamon and stoniness that enliven the olfactory senses. In the mouth it is direct, striking nice balance between fruit and mineral on the vivid and extensive finish. Enjoy over the next 6-8 years with roasted chicken, mushroom pasta or just a super-fine aged Gruyere cheese.

2020 QUINTA DE MURADELLA
MONTERREI TINTO 'CANDEA'
$19.99 BTL./$239.88 CASE

Muradella wines are about as easy to obtain as Thomas Pinot Noir or Raveneau Chablis. Monterrei is located inland in Galicia and right at the Portuguese border and close to Bierzo and you owe it to yourself to try this savory Spanish red.

Mencia, along with doses of Tempranillo, Garnacha Tintorera & Mouraton elicits good discussion, changing multiple times in the glass. Starts off very mineral, giving way to floral tones, white pepper and overriding blackberry fruit. Silky and pleasing with vibrancy, this 12% alcohol red is not a heavyweight but very sculpted, layered and extensive.

2018 MAXIMIN GRUNHAUS RIESLING
KABINETT 'ABTSBERG'
$39.99 BTL./$479.88 CASE

Let’s get high on acid! Not the way I did in the eighties but on Grand Cru Riesling. From the Ruwer, this was one of the Mecca producers I visited back in April on my visit Germany’s Mosel Valley. Blue slate soils up to 70% steepness, Abtsberg is the estate’s top vineyard. Little Kabinett is produced, the majority of grapes are dedicated to Spatlese, Auslese, Grosses Gewachs and upward.

Yes, there is a kiss of sweetness to this wine, but no more that would be in many Oregon Pinot Gris. Pronounced lime, currant and peach along with subtle ginger and petrol notes. Piercing, extremely focused mineral tones which are classic to the blue slate bring out delineation and very cool finesse. Complex, secondary tones show up in a regal way. Drinking exquisitely and still packing loads of life, this semi-dry Riesling possesses low alcohol (8.5%), is brilliantly delineated, complex and undeniably precise. Drinking wonderfully now and will continue to do so for another ten-plus years - and longer.

2022 LAMÉ DELISLE BOUCARD
BOURGUEIL VIGNES VIGNES
$13.99 BTL./$167.88 CASE

Picture yourself kicking back in a French café with a hunk of paté or rillettes in front of you and having a blast with this Loire Valley red.

100% Cabernet Franc. Luminous, soil-driven raspberry this is a taste of French soul which engages the olfactory senses. Black raspberry, sanguine, roses and turned earth aromas carry over to a surging texture of red cherry, sandalwood and an underlay of licorice, elevating and touching all points of the palate. An enticing wine to serve with anything that will clog the arteries.

2018 ANTONELLI SAGRANTINO DI
MONTEFALCO
$31.99 BTL./$191.94 - SIX PACK

94 Points – Wine Enthusiast Magazine…A Cellar Door favorite and a deal of a collectible. Striving to make wines that are both full of character carry to the table, Fillipo Antonelli attains all of this with plenty of Umbrian character and concentration. Lately he has been receiving his flowers from many publications.

Sagrantino, the spiritual grape of Umbria's Montefalco region, imparts large-scaled wines. Dense aromas waft from the glass. Prominent blackberry, sage, cherry pit and balsamic notes follow through to a texture that is palate-staining, layered, complex all while maintaining buoyancy, freshness, and backbone. Enjoy over the next ten years with osso buco, slow roasted leg of lamb, hearty stews and intense cheese.
