Located across the river from Chinon, Domaine Amirault’s Loire Valley Cabernet Franc wines have incredible range, soul and are a true taste of France. Specializing in both Saint-Nicolas de Bourgueil and Bourgueil, Côte 50 is grown on sand/gravel/clay at the border of Saint-Nicolas.
Abstract scents of raspberry and cherry skin, dried herbs, licorice, sanguine, smoke and sandalwood permeate from the glass and continue challenging the olfactory senses as it opens. In the mouth, the lavish 2022 vintage gives it plushness, but overall, the composition of the wine is lacy, classy and fragrant in the mouth. The finish is seamless, refined and very real. Drink with your Christmas ham, turkey or prime rib.

A 'step-up' and stereotype breaking, sophisticated Cotes-du-Rhone from a Northern Rhone Cornas master. Domaine Alain Voge’s Lionel Fraisse has emphasized the Domaine’s Cotes-du-Rhone to better quality. Made from 100% Syrah with a small portion of 10-year-old Cornas vines blended into the final wine.
Fragrant with currants, rose, blackberries and pronounced smoked meat. Black pepper is here, but it is a backdrop along with hints of dark chocolate. Expansive layered flavors creep through the mouth with high-toned grip morphing into red fruits then finishing very lengthy, earthy and succulent. Drink this sensuous Syrah over the next 6-8 years with leaner meats like sirloin steak, lamb chops or dressed up pork tenderloin.

Old Garnacha grown at 500-1000 meters in the hills outside of Madrid, the elevation is what drives the vine and the wine. This makes them so different from the versions from the Rhone, Catalonia, Languedoc et. al and almost allows them to Pinot-esque in profile.
Wonderfully put together aromas of blackcurrant, strawberry, laurel and licorice shine on the nose and lead into a texture that is both handsome and tenacious all at once. Transparent, penetrating and complex with a superb snap-back finish, this prodigal value can be consumed over the next 6-8 years, particularly with Spain’s national vegetable - pork.

Marcus Goodfellow has been a good friend of The Cellar Door for 25+ years. Friendship aside, my wine decisions are all about quality…and this is one of the finest Oregon white wines.
Inspired by the vineyard designated blends in Alsace, Marcus has put forth something very special. Made with four traditional grapes seen both in Alsace and here in Oregon, the desire to allow Whistling Ridge Vineyard to speak transcending the varietals is accomplished very well indeed. Shining aromas of honeysuckle, apple, lemon, tinges of exotic spice and a genuine stoniness from the non-irrigated vines taking a vow of poverty and going deep to find the basalt rock where the moisture lies. Old-vine depth, dry, racy and radiant with loads of personality and structure in the mouth. Mouth-watering and extensively complex on the back end. Given this wine's backbone, experience shows that this wine will ages very well…Drink it over the next decade and beyond.

Not the oldest estate on Mt. Etna, but surely the most influential due to Marc de Grazia being the first to make wines from single Contrada sites. Normally these white wines are long sold out but some remains for us to offer.
Coming from Contrada Salice in the Superiore zone of Milo on the east side of the volcano, this 100% Carricante’s 50-80 year old vines are reflected in the complexity and depth of the wine. Fermentation and aging takes place in stainless steel tank. Classic oceanic scents with lemon and orange rind and aromatic floral overtones. Vibrant and vivacious, a succulent mouthfilling texture of pineapple, lemon, mango and yuzu fan out on the vertical, focused, eternal finish. Enjoy this raging great Sicilian white through 2035.
