2014 DROUHIN OREGON
ROSE ROCK PINOT NOIR
$29.99 BTL./$179.94 - SIX PK

One of the most exciting developments in the last few years at Domaine Drouhin was their acquisition of the Roserock vineyard in the southern stretches of the Eola-Amity appellation in 2013. We are now starting to see the first results that are stunning and drastically different from their Dundee Hills wines, which is to be expected with such different terroir.

Delivering grace and regal depth of fruit all conjure up harmonious notes of strawberry, licorice, white pepper and cocoa-dust, this wine is quite the seductress. Texturally this offering is concentrated and persistent with plenty of dark tones up front then fanning out into a vivid, suave and rich finish. This is top-notch, obsessive farming and winemaking at its pinnacle and while this wine has immense accessibility, there is even more potential lurking underneath and will undoubtedly unfold with a few years of cellaring.

2012 DEI VINO NOBILE
DI MONTEPULCIANO
$26.99 BTL./$323.88 CASE

Caterina Dei has long been one of our most esteemed Tuscan producers that we annually work with, especially when it comes to her infallible Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. 90% Sangiovese/ 10% Canaiolo, this wine is the lifeblood of this most eloquent estate. At 27 bucks, this steal of a hearty Tuscan wine easily competes with others in the area (Brunello, Super-Tuscans, Riserva Chianti) that are twice the price.

2012 is very fine, generous, voluptuous vintage within Montepulciano. One whiff of the wonderfully pure scents of wild flowers, sage, black cherry, and savory earth will have you reminiscing about your last visit to Tuscany! The depth and concentration carry nicely into the mouth as it offers up succulent, ripe and flavorful tones with superb tight focus and grip as well as finishing dark, spicy and long. Drink now – 2023+. Italio-philes or wine lovers in general, we strongly suggest that you don't pass this wine up - you will be amazed and astounded that a noble Tuscan wine of this character can cost so little when you compare it to others.

2014 DOMAINE PILLOT
CHASSAGNE-MONTRACHET
$45.99 BTL./$551.88 CASE

If you are a White Burgundy-lover, you MUST have some of these apex wines. A visit to chez Pillot is like returning to school and taking Chassagne-Montrachet 101, 102 and the master's program. Simply put, Laurent Pillot is a Chassagne Guru! Having visited the area for 4 days last month on my sojourn to France, 2014 is one of the greatest white Burgundy vintages I have seen in almost 30 years of working with Burgundy. Sadly, due to a devastating frost in Burgundy back in April, there will be little to virtually no 2016 wines and the prices will increase on the 2015s so we absolutely implore you to take advantage of these, especially since we can still sell them at fair prices. Example, I just tasted a cult California Chardonnay last week and lo and behold, I have to sell it for north of 60. Looking at that scene, it makes this French Chardonnay a steal!

After tasting a this wine in France, I told Laurent that he should invent his own Premier Cru name for this wine because it is way above the regular village quality level! Very precise Chassagne aromas of peach, orange and rosemary. Plenty of mineral beneath a gentle kiss of vanilla from proper use of barrique. Beautiful expanse from the vintage occurs in the mouth. Beautifully drawn out, but also very energetic. Killer Juice! Drink now - 2026.
